I finally got around to making something out of my beer pattern!
Today in class we had visitors from Nickelodeon, to check out some short animations we had all made for possible use as pop-up entertainment on their site.
Here is one of the ones I showed today!
I saw Spring Breakers a few weeks ago (over my own spring break actually) and loved it. So when one of my assignments was to make a piece titled “The Masterpiece” I decided to do a Spring Breakers illustration inspired by Gustav Klimt’s “The Kiss.”
Pictures of the first printing of my thesis!
We had out big thesis open studio review on Tuesday and it was so great to see everyone’s work, it made the fact out graduation is in a few weeks feel even more real.
I was reunited with my sister and her cat today and I have thus dedicated this post to the two of them:
For another Beyond the Page assignment we designed a possible themed hotel room and I chose to create a room for a “cat lady” complete with a ball of yarn pillow and cat patterned wallpaper.
You did an amazing job! We never saw the @poppyinthewheat flyer.
Two weeks ago, Middlebury College hosted a spoken word poetry event that brought together The Strivers Row collective and Buddy Wakefield for a unique performance called “Buddy Meets the Strivers.” (Which you can read about here.)
Barbara Ofosu-Somuah cooirdinated the event and contacted me to make the posters. The Strivers Row had such beautiful portraits on their website that it was easy for me to come up with a concept focused around those photos and quotes from their poems. (Originally I did not know that Buddy Wakefield would also be preforming,)
All of the type was hand drawn and arranged in Photoshop (which made the long list of sponsors a bit of a hassle) but I really love posters with all handmade typography so it was certainly worth the extra effort.
My friend at Middlebury (who wrote the article about the event) said he overheard the poets talking about how much they loved the posters, which is the best compliment I could receive for this project!
I know I am late in saying this, but THANKS! It means so much that you guys liked the posters and I heard the event was amazing, I hope I get to see you guys in person one day!
Another in-class zine! This one was a collaboration between the lovely and talented Anastasia, Cindy, Katie, Katrina, Leanne (and myself.)
Decorated and made some quick zines in class today! These are the front and back of a Parsons zine that features work from all of the students in our Beyond the Page class to sell at the Brooklyn Zine Fest this Sunday.
More thesis stuff! This is one of the spreads from my final comic, the only spread that rotates between the past (blue) and the future (pink.)
